You are purchasing boards in various widths and lengths, some with straight edges and some with natural live edges.

Names and Distribution:
American walnut (Juglans nigra) is a tree species found in both open and dense forests as well as park landscapes. Its natural distribution is mainly limited to the states of Tennessee, Montana, and Arkansas. This species is relatively rare and achieves premium prices when high-quality timber is available.
Imperance:

Sapwood and heartwood clearly differentiated in color; heartwood is very variable from grey to violet-brown depending on age and location, often with color streaks, irregular veining or cloudy coloring. A uniform gray-brown shade is produced by steaming. Distinct veining or streaking, partly also with a ridged or mottled texture. Relatively coarse poring. Particularly beautiful, very decorative wood.
Properties:

Density at u=12% is 0.70 t/m³. The shrinkage from the fresh state to u=12% is specified as 6.7% tangential and 4.4% radial. Moderate shrinkage with good stamina. Easy and smooth to machine, good for profiling and turning. Produces uniformly smooth surfaces, easy to polish and stain. The Brinell hardness is given as 36, the modulus of elasticity as approx. 12,800
Uses:
Classic interior wood, furniture making, musical instruments, doors and staircases, woodturning and carving work, gunstocks, parquet flooring, and solid wood flooring products.

Transport Information for Sawn Timber

After purchasing your timber, you may request a free cut-to-length service according to your required dimensions. Shorter planks may reduce packaging size and shipping costs.

The following collection and delivery options are available:
 

1. Collection from Warehouse
Once your order has been prepared, the timber can be collected from our warehouse as loose planks.

Collection is by appointment only. Please arrange a collection date in advance by telephone or email.
 

2. Freight Forwarding / Bulky Goods Delivery
Delivery by freight forwarder is required for:

  • boards longer than 120 cm, or
  • shipments with a total weight exceeding 30 kg.

Shipping costs depend on:

  • the dimensions and total weight of the order, and
  • the delivery destination.

Freight forwarding costs are calculated individually and will be communicated to you before order confirmation.

 

3. Parcel Delivery (DHL / DPD)
Parcel delivery via DHL or DPD is available if:

  • the maximum plank length does not exceed 118 cm, and
  • the total shipment weight does not exceed 30 kg.

If required, we can cut the planks accordingly free of charge to enable parcel shipment.

Please note that custom-cut or made-to-measure timber products may be excluded from the statutory right of withdrawal in accordance with applicable consumer protection regulations.
